English Curriculum Vision

Our English Curriculum embodies our values of:

Personal Excellence by ensuring the children are able to communicate their ideas and emotions effectively to others.

Respect and Friendship by encouraging children to write clearly, accurately and coherently, adapting their language and style in and for a range of contexts, purposes and audiences in order to communicate with each other or work together, for example plays or performance poetry.

Inspiration by engaging and inspiring the children with quality written texts to positively impact their own writing.

Determination and Courage by challenging the children to acquire a wide vocabulary, an understanding of grammar and knowledge of linguistic conventions in order to develop culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually as writers.

Equality by ensuring children appreciate a rich and varied literary heritage to impact their reading and writing.

We incorporate, wherever possible, the work within the topics making links with other curriculum areas. The children are encouraged to reflect upon and evaluate their sources and that of others to enable them to develop their ideas and reason.
